Electric Ovens: Element and Relay
An electric Thermador bakes with a hidden or exposed element. When it fails it may show a blister or break, or it may look normal but no longer draw current. If the broil element heats but bake does not, that isolates the bake element or its relay on the control board. Testing continuity confirms the element; testing the relay confirms the board.
Gas Ovens: the Igniter
A gas Thermador oven relies on a glow-bar igniter to both heat up and, by drawing enough current, open the safety gas valve. As igniters age they weaken; the bar still glows but the valve never opens, so you get a long delay or no ignition at all. This is the single most common gas-oven no-heat cause and a clean, defined replacement.
The Sensor Affects Both
The oven temperature sensor tells the control how hot the cavity is. If it drifts, the oven heats to the wrong target and bakes hot, cold, or erratically even when the heating parts are fine. A quick resistance check identifies a bad sensor, which is inexpensive to replace.
Altitude Is Not a Fault
At Vail-area elevation a gas oven may preheat a touch slower simply because thinner air lowers combustion output. That is physics, not a broken part, though a fresh igniter and a good door gasket keep it as quick as it can be. A gasket that has flattened wastes heat and is worth replacing.
